Chilli and Pepper Crabs!

how can i forget about chilli and pepper?!?!!?!?! teehee! dar and i start keeping hermit crabs recently... and we bought two hermits! one named chilli coz it's abit of pinkish orangey colour, and the other one named pepper coz of the light grey colour cum a lil blue-ish. so cute so fun!

that's how it looks like when their home is first set up. kinda plain but gradually we will buy more stuffs to decorate such as bridge, trees, fence and so on depending on the theme (beach, jap etc) that we want it to be, in order to create a cosy and condusive home for them. cool eh? right now you can see three bowls; a green one for food, light purple for salt water, and the dark purple for freshwater. hermits would need salt water for drinking and swimming purposes. how cute. not too deep so we estimate accordingly in case they drown.

as the salt that we usually consume is not suitable for hermits, we bought another type of salt specially for them. to be mixed together with a bottle of water and shake well before serving them. (: as chilli and pepper are too short and small hence we placed pebbles inside the bowls so that they can crawl out on their own.

they will stay in their shells all the time and will stick out half of their bodies only when they are in search of food, water, or when they feel like it. it is extremely rare that you will be able to see them come out of their shells with their whole body. they walk around with their shells which is so funny especially when your shells are painted with funny faces or colourful designs. these shells can be purchased outside and once in a while we will need to buy bigger shells for them coz hermits wld need to change shells accordingly to their size as they grow. besides, we would need to buy a variety of shells for them so that they can choose their favourite ones. hermits can be very picky at times! especially when it comes to choosing shells. sometimes hermits may even snatch and fight over one particular shell that they like. how cumbersome it can be. that is why we bought another two colourful shells for them just in case they get tired of their own shells.

we purposely picked small-size hermits so that we can watch them grow, and smaller ones are not as scary! unlike those big hermits with big shells and fat legs! haha. gross~

let's take a peek at chilli and pepper...

my chilli! popping its head and legs out of the shell.

my chilli crab looks like prawn isnt it? very small sized and almost similar to the size of a pebble, or even smaller. (i am kinda confused between which is chilli and pepper. lol. i thought this is pepper but dar told me it is chilli!) haha.

chilli and pepper in the food bowl. and chilli was trying to crawl out after filling its tummy.

initially the both of them aints friends and they stayed far away from each other. but now..? they stick together like super glue. no matter when you will always see them close together like two good friends. right now they are placed at dar's house for convenience purpose. so i can only visit them occasionally when i am staying over. and i havent seen them for 3 days alr! miss yew chilli pepper..... of coz i miss you too dar keke* mess your hair*

and here's pepper!

pepper gets bored inside and it started to crawl out as well (:

getting excited! we feel like buying more hermits and chilli pepper will have more friends! lol. we will see how it goes.
